Upgraded to OpsMgr 2007 R2?

Read through the Operations Manager Management Pack Guide for Operations Manager 2007 R2?

If not, I suggest taking a look through and understanding some of the changes (for the better) in relation to the health of the Health Service for agents and servers: Monitoring the Health Service.

Prior to OpsMgr 2007 R2, you may have run into issues with the MonitoringHost.exe process consuming lots of CPU or HealthService.exe may have a high (>10000) handle count and restart

The OpsMgr MP for Operations Manager 2007 R2 monitors for the Health Service have been modified to restart the Monitoring Host process and the Health Service process should it need be.

Handle count of the MonitoringHost.exe process. When the average Handle Count counter for the MonitoringHost.exe process exceeds the configured threshold, a rule automatically restarts the Health Service on agents.

Private bytes of the MonitoringHost.exe process. When the average Private Bytes counter for MonitoringHost.exe exceeds the configured threshold, a rule automatically restarts the Health Service on agents.

Handle count of the HealthService.exe process. When this monitor detects that the average Handle Count counter for the HealthService.exe process exceeds the configured threshold, the monitor triggers a recovery to automatically restart the Health Service on agents.

Private bytes of the HealthService.exe process. When this monitor detects that the average Private Bytes counter for HealthService.exe exceeds the configured threshold, it triggers a recovery to automatically restart the Health Service on agents.

The two scenarios covered are only due to their popularity based on searches I have found from a few of the blogs that I follow.

The Ops Mgr MP does cover other scenarios and their changes as well:
AD Integration
Agent health and remediation
Agent management and recovery
Core System: secure storage—password expiration
The health of the Operations Manager database
